Quang Ninh pilots self-drive tours to Chinese city
Update: Nov 10, 2016
The northern province of Quang Ninh on November 9 launched self-drive tours from its Mong Cai city to China’s bordering Dongxing.

This model aims to promote cross-border tourism between Viet Nam and China as well as the common development of the two localities in particular, said Vice Secretary of the Party Committee of Mong Cai city Vu Van Kinh.

Forty tourist cars of Viet Nam and China made entrance and exit procedures at the Mong Cai international border gate on the opening day.

Cars under nine seats owned by Vietnamese and Chinese individuals and enterprises are allowed to enter and stay in the respective cities for no more than there days. The number of cars does not exceed 100 per day.

Chinese visitors could travel only in Mong Cai city, not crossing the Control Complex Station of Km15 - Dan Tien pier, and vehicles are not permitted to run on National Road 18C (the border belt road) and military areas.

The Chinese city will set its own regulations.

The Hong Gai Tourism and Services JSC has been entrusted to operate the service and help drivers with exit procedures.

The provincial People’s Committee has asked the Department of Transport to coordinate with relevant departments and localities to manage Vietnamese cars.

The project is piloted from now to January 11, 2017.
