Cao Phong orange festival kicks off
Update: Nov 16, 2016
The second Cao Phong orange festival and the Northwest Agriculture, Tourism and Trade fair kicked off at Cao Phong District’s Cultural House, Hoa Binh Province, on November 13.

Addressing the opening ceremony, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Nguyen Xuan Cuong highly appreciated Hoa Binh province’s efforts in building new rural areas and restructuring agriculture. He also asked the local authorities to continue implementing the building of new rural areas and restructuring agriculture programme.

The second Cao Phong orange festival and the Northwest Agriculture, Tourism and Trade fair feature the participation of 200 organisations and businesses, along with 350 booths. Among them, there are 80 booths displaying oranges and agricultural products, 80 introducing tourism products, in addition to over 100 booths displaying trade products and 40 booths showcasing the traditional cuisine of Hoa Binh Province and neighbouring provinces in the Northwest region.

The events will run until November 20.

In 2014, Hoa Binh’s Cao Phong District received Geographical Indication for its oranges. In 2016, the intellectual property institute in Viet Nam recognised the fruit as one of the ten most popular Vietnamese trademarks.

Cao Phong District is home to more than 2,000 hectares of citrus fruits, accounting for nearly one third of the entire citrus plantation in Hoa Binh.

The Cao Phong orange festival is held to honor and promote local products, creating opportunities for organizations and individuals to promote trade, while at the same time, raising awareness and creating positive changes at all levels of industry and civil society in the protection and sustainable development of Cao Phong oranges.
