Opening ceremony of the 6th Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Festival and Central Highlands Gong Culture Festival 2017

(TITC) - In the evening of 10 March 2017, in 10 Thang 3 Square of Buon Ma Thuot City, Dak Lak Province, the opening ceremony of the 6th Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Festival and the 4th Central Highlands Gong Culture Festival 2017 took place officially with the impressive art program imbuing Central Highlands culture.

The ceremony had the attendances of Mr. Nguyen Xuan Phuc - Prime Minister; Mr. To Lam - Minister of Public Security, Head of Central Highlands Steering Committee; Mr. Eban Y Phu - Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee of Dak Lak Province; representatives of central ministries and agencies, provinces/cities, international organizations; domestic and international art troupes; press agencies and numerous local people, domestic and foreign visitors.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc appreciates the contribution of the coffee industry to the national economic development. Prime Minister desires the theme “Converging quintessence – Promoting identity – Linking to develop” of Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Festival 2017 will become a strategy for further development of the coffee industry in the next time. Prime Minister also shares the expectation of a Central Highlands with abundance of organic agriculture, diversity in ecology, richness in culture and become one of the most unique coffee places in the world.

The 6th Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Festival and the 4th Central Highlands Gong Culture Festival 2017 will contribute to promoting the brand of Buon Ma Thuot Coffee and affirm the position of Viet Nam’s coffee in the world market, at the same time raise the community’s awareness for conserving, introducing and promoting the cultural identity of Central Highlands’s ethnic groups, especially the value of the space of gong culture recognized as Intangible Cultural Heritage of the Humanity since 2005. This is also the chance for the Central Highlands provinces to introduce the image, potentials, strengthens and promote trade, tourism.
