Bac Lieu to host Khmer Culture, Sports and Tourism Festival

The 7th Khmer Culture, Sports and Tourism will be held in the Mekong Delta province of Bac Lieu in November 2017.

This year’s event themed “Preservation and promotion of the Khmer Culture to meet demand of the country’s sustainable development” is expected to attract thousands of artists and domestic athletes from 12 province and cities: Tay Ninh, Binh Phuoc, Vinh Long, Tra Vinh, An Giang, Kien Giang, Hau Giang, Soc Trang, Ca Mau, Can Tho, HCM City and Bac Lieu.

The festival will feature a wide range of cultural and sport activities, such as exhibition on Khmer people’s traditional culture, traditional rituals of the Khmer ethnic people, performance of traditional costumes, boat racing and others.

The festival has a special political significance and is an opportunity to honor and highlight the culture of the Khmer ethnic group and strengthen solidarity and exchange amongst the Khmer community

The event is co-organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the People’s Committee of Bac Lieu Province and will run from November 17-19.
