Ban Flower Festival 2018

(TTIC) - Since 2014, Ban Flower Festival has become an annual event held in Dien Bien Phu City, Dien Bien Province in the middle of March. It’s associated with celebrating the opening activity of Dien Bien Phu Campaign (13 March 1954).

The festival is a chance to promote the beauty and specific traditional cultural values ​​of 19 ethnic groups in Dien Bien Province to domestic and international visitors, thereby preserving and developing typical cultural heritage types; transforming heritage values ​​into internal resources to promote tourism; connecting with other potentials and strengths to contribute to the socio-economic development of Dien Bien Province.

Ban Flower Festival 2018 will open on 17 March and last until the end of May with many unique culture, sports and tourism activities. Of which, main activities of the festival will take place from 17 to 19 March 2018 at 7 Thang 5 Square, Dien Bien Phu City.

The opening art program themed “Ban Flower – Dien Bien’s Love Song” will be the harmony on Dien Bien’s land and people, expressing the beauty of the soul, glorious history, cultural colors and imposing natural landscape of Dien Bien Province.

A new feature of this year’s festival is the contest of traditional costumes of the ethnic groups of Dien Bien Province on 18 March. The contest aims to introduce typical cultural identity through traditional costumes of Dien Bien’s ethnic groups as well as 54 ethnic groups in Viet Nam.

Besides, the festival will also include many other unique activities such as exhibition of typical cultural heritage of Dien Bien’s ethnic groups, introducing and promoting Dien Bien’s tourism products, sports activities, folk games, etc.

With many diversified activities, Ban Flower Festival has become a common festival of ethnic groups in Dien Bien Province, and converged outstanding cultural values of the province.
