PM gives nod to pilot of four-wheeled electric and gas tramcars

The trial deployment of four-wheeled tramcars powered by electric energy or gasoline engines to serve tourists in restricted areas has received approval from the Prime Minister (PM).

The approval came after the proposals of the Ministries of Transport; Public Security; Culture, Sports and Tourism; People’s Committees of Phu Yen, Lam Dong, Ben Tre and Bac Lieu.

He noted that the pilot program will be applied with new vehicles which are qualified for technical safety, environmental protection, and registration. The trial period will last three years.  

The Government leader asked relevant provincial and municipal People’s Committees to define the time of operation, routes, and make reports every six months.

The Ministry of Transport was assigned to study and add the above vehicles during the process of amending the Law on Road Transport to submit to the PM as regulated.
