The event was organised by the Sirenis Viet Company under the supervision and guidance of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports, with the participation of many theaters in the Southern and Northern areas, such as Viet Nam Puppetry Theatre, Phuong Nam Art Theatre, Ho Chi Minh City Opera House, Kite Theatre, Hai Phong Puppetry Theatre, and the Soul Music & Performing Arts Academy.

Through the activities, the festival is expected to bring the art of puppetry closer to the general public in the southern region, as well as international tourists, thereby contributing to preserving and promoting the cultural value of the unique traditional art form.

Especially, People's Artist Vuong Duy Bien, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, will be the art director and general director of the programme.

The Viet Nam Puppetry Festival will feature one main stage and five additional stages set up on the pedestrian street. The programme will be a combination of different types of puppetry and other art forms to create an attraction for the audience.

In addition, at the opening ceremony, the organising board will spend the majority of their time inviting disadvantaged children and children from children sponsoring centre in Ho Chi Minh City.
