Hoi An-Japan cultural exchange next month

The 2012 Hoi An-Japan cultural exchange will take place from August 24-26 in Hoi An ancient town, according to the Hoi An Center for Culture and Sports in the central province of Quang Nam.

The annual event is to enhance the friendship between the nations, to broaden the cooperation relationship between Hoi An and Japan as well as to promote Hoi An as a world cultural heritage among local and international friends.

There will be a vast array of activities to celebrate the 39th anniversary of diplomatic ties. The program features unique activities such as a Haiku poem composing contest and exhibition, Japanese and Quang Nam food presentations and souvenir photo shoots with Yukata. The closing ceremony includes street art performance shows and a community art exchange.

On this occasion, Hoi An City will organize "Hoi An ancient town night" in response to the National Year of Tourism and Heritage from 4 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on August 30.

The exchange is jointly hosted by the authorities of Hoi An City, the Japanese Embassy, the Japan Foundation Center for Cultural Exchange in Vietnam and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). Besides, it is also supported by Japan's Sakai City, the Sakai City International Exchange Association and other organizations and enterprises of the nations.
