Japanese cuisine, culture introduced in HCM City

A Japan Day featuring the Japanese cuisine, culture and art took place in Ho Chi Minh city on June 20 as part of activities to mark the 40th anniversary of the two countries' diplomatic ties.
The event, which saw the presence of the Vietnam-Japan Special Friendship Ambassador cum Japan-ASEAN Special Envoy Sugi Ryotaro, aimed to further enhance Vietnamese people's understanding about the Japanese culture.

Artisans from Japan introduced their traditional dishes such as soba, tempura, Sushi, Kyoto food and confectionaries. Japanese artists also charmed HCM City audience with special dances and conjuring performances.

Addressing the event, Japanese Consul General in HCM City Hida affirmed that the Japan-Vietnam relationship has seen gigantic developments over the past 40 years, especially in culture, economics, politics, and security and defence.

Deputy Director of the municipal Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism La Quoc Khanh appreciated Japan's organisation of this event, which he believed helps tighten the friendship and mutual understanding between the two nations.
