ASEAN, Korean arts performed at heritage festival

Original and eye-catching performances from nine art troupes hailing from eight ASEAN countries and the Republic of Korea (RoK) brought a multi-cultural atmosphere to the ancient town of Hoi An in central coastal Quang Nam province on June 23.
The event, titled "SEAN-RoK art, convergence" is being held as part of the fifth Quang Nam Heritage Festival.

Among the traditional music and dance on display was Korean - Arirang' folk singing and Malaysian - Mengadap Rebab' and Thai - Manora' dancing. The performances showcased the unique cultural beauty of each country.

After the event, all the art troupes took part in a street art performance.

The fifth Quang Nam Heritage Festival, the largest-ever in terms of scale and participation, is taking place in Hoi An and the My Son relic site from June 22-26 to promote local heritage, cultural values and the tourism potential of the stunning province.

The festival is featuring a broad range of activities, including the Miss Ethnic Vietnam 2013 pageant, the third International Choir Festival and an investment forum on green growth for Quang Nam.

Quang Nam is the only locality in Vietnam that is home to two world heritage sites (Hoi An and My Son) and one biosphere reserve (Cham Island). The province has received lots of support from UNESCO over the last decade.
