Phu Quoc island: An ideal destination in winter 2014

According to National Geographic, Phu Quoc island is one of the top 15 favoured destinations for winter 2014. It ranks third after Paris (France) and Whitefish, Montana (USA).

Especially, on this Lunar New Year holiday, Phu Quoc welcomed 85,000 visitors, an increase of 17 percent in compared with 2012.

According to National Geographic, some of Vietnam's most beautiful beaches are on Phu Quoc island. Phu Quoc is attractive because of the charming beach with blue sea, white sand, the quiet and romantic landscape and rich national park.

Besides, Nha lao Cay Dua (Coconut tree prison), one of Phu Quoc historical sites located about 5km north of An Thoi town, also attracts a lot of tourists.

National Geographic also highlighted the delicious taste of Phu Quoc fish sauce which has been recognized by the EU 28 member states as a protected trademark.

The top 15 destinations listed are Baikal Lake (Russia), Santa Margherita Ligure (Italy), Nosare beach (Costa Rica), Yellowstone national park (US), Masquerade Games, Pernik (Bulgaria), Gold coast (Australia); Caucasus mountains (Georgia), winter festival in Miami (US), Mallorca, (Spain); Muscat Salalah (Oman), Sauti za Busara music festival (Tanzania) and Quebec (Canada).
