An Giang holds national temple festival

The Cuu Long (Mekong) Delta province of An Giang will hold Ba Chua Xu Temple Festival, a national festival, on May 21-25. 

The festival, which is organised from the 23th to 27th of the fourth lunar month every year, honours Ba Chua Xu (the local tutelary goddess), whose temple is located at the foot of Sam Mountain in Chau Doc Town.

The event has five solemn ceremonies, including washing the statute of Ba Chua Xu. Other activities like dragon dance and art performances are also held during the festival.

Legend says that Ba Chua Xu is so sacred that anyone who offers incense to her can realise all their wishes. Therefore, the temple attracts the visit of more than 3.5 million people a year.

Sam Mountain locates in That Son (Seven Mountains) area which is considered as the Delta's highest place.
