(TITC) – On 20th May 2014, Quang Ninh’s Department of Information and Communications in collaboration with Ha Long Bay Management Board held a press conference to announce the plan of 20th anniversary celebration of Ha Long Bay’s recognition as World Natural Heritage by UNESCO (17th December 1994 – 17th December 2014).
The opening ceremony will take place on November 14th at 30/10 Square (Hong Hai Ward, Ha Long City) with many attractive art performances and sideline activities such as International Conference on “Sustainable development of World Natural Heritage Ha Long Bay”; photo contest, souvenir contest on Ha Long Bay. In addition, there will be activities highlighting the conservation and promotion of special values of world natural heritage Ha Long Bay such as cleaning sea environment, painting about Ha Long Bay…
The Organizing Board is accelerating the preparation of the 20th anniversary celebration, focusing on the assurance of safety and security for tourists and environmental protection. According to the Organizing Board, the celebration is an important event of Quang Ninh tourism in 2014. This year, Quang Ninh strives to attract 7.7 million tourist arrivals, of which international arrivals are 2.7 million. Total tourism receipt reaches VND 5,700 billion.
