The art of fruit carving and the display of some rare and special specialties are among the highlights at the Southern Fruit Festival 2014 from June 1 to 8 at Suoi Tien Park in HCMC’s District 9.
The 10th event has numerous activities for visitors. In particular, there is a fresh and safe fruit contest featuring 1,000 kinds of fruit, 30% higher than last year. Other highlights are a floating market with over 180 fruits from 21 provinces and cities nationwide and an introduction of 30 special dishes made from fruits and vegetables, and a parade of some outstanding artworks made from fruits, seeds and vegetables.
According to Huynh Dong Tuan, deputy head of the organizing committee, participants can buy fruits from gardeners with cheap prices at the floating market. Farmers who sell products at the festival have to guarantee the safety of their fruits.
Also available are art performances by five foreign troupes and a display of paintings made from fruits and seeds, and a food fair.
The previous event attracted over 1.6 million visitors. This year Suoi Tien Park is running a range of promotions, including 50% discounts on tickets for children who come in groups or are accompanied by adults and 50% discounts for well-performing students in the school year 2013-2014.
Suoi Tien Theme Park is located at 120 Hanoi Highway, Tan Phu Ward, District 9, HCMC. Tickets for adults and children are VND90,000 and VND45,000 per person. Games at the park are priced from VND15,000 to VND80,000.
