Vung Tau attracts visitors with unique festivals

(TITC) - Located in the Southern key economic region, coastal city of Vung Tau (Ba Ria - Vung Tau Province) attracts visitors not only by beautiful natural scenery, unique cultural – historical relics but also by diversified culinary culture.

To promote specific culture of Vung Tau City and celebrate the 69th National Day 2 September (1945 – 2014), People’s Committee of Vung Tau City will organize two typical events, including Vung Tau Cuisine Festival (28-31 August 2014) and Nghinh Ong Thang Tam Festival (5-11 September 2014).

The Vung Tau Cuisine Festival is a typical cultural event of Vung Tau City in recent years, attracting the participation of professional chefs from tourism, drinks and food enterprises in Ba Ria - Vung Tau Province and neighbour provinces. The festival is a chance for enterprises to promote trade brands, introduce services and unique tourism products to visitors and also exchange experience, seek cooperation opportunities.

The festival is held in Trung Trac - Trung Nhi Flower Garden (Ward 1, Vung Tau City) with nearly 70 sea food stalls of tourism and cuisine enterprises in Ba Ria - Vung Tau Province and some coastal provinces. The festival also has the participation of some foreign enterprises from Ukraine, Japan, Thailand, Malaysia, the Republic of Korea... To the festival, visitors will have the opportunity to enjoy typical dishes of Viet Nam sea regions and culinary quintessence of many countries and territories in the world. In the framework of the festival, many other attractive activities also take place such as culinary contests; performances of cooking, bartender, trimming vegetables...

The opening ceremony of the festival will start at 18h00 on 28 August 2014, the closing and awarding ceremony for outstanding units will be held at 18h00 on 31 August 2014.

On this occasion, People’s Committee of Vung Tau City will organize Nghinh Ong Thang Tam Festival in Thang Tam Communal House, one of the traditional festivals of fishermen in Ba Ria – Vung Tau and the South region.

Besides the traditional ritual activities, the festival also has many specific cultural, sports activities of sea region such as: art kite flying; fishing; contests of shaking coracle, carrying fish, knitting nets, dry boat race... especially the art exchange program with the theme “I love Vietnamese sea” between fishermen and sea policemen, sea wardens garrisoning in Vung Tau City in the evening of 5 September.

The organizations of Vung Tau Cuisine Festival and Nghinh Ong Thang Tam Festival on 2 September will contribute to creating more attractive entertainment spots for local people and visitors when visiting Vung Tau. Through these events, Vung Tau desires to promote the image and attract more visitors to the city; thereby preserve its own traditional cultural values.
