Opportunity to promote tourism potential of Thanh Hoa in National Tourism Year 2015

(TITC) - Located in North Central region, 150km to the south of Ha Noi Capital and 1,560km to the north of Ho Chi Minh City, Thanh Hoa is one of key national tourism destinations. Host of National Tourism Year 2015 is the opportunity for Thanh Hoa to promote tourism potential, at the same time call investment for tourism development and gradually affirm the position of Thanh Hoa tourism.

Citadel of the Ho Dynasty

Thanh Hoa has a coastline of 102km with many beautiful, attractive beaches, including Sam Son (Sam Son Town), Hai Tien (Hoang Hoa District), Hai Hoa (Tinh Gia District). Beaches alternating with river mouths and mountain ranges create charming and unique landscapes.

Thanh Hoa also owns great forest resources with the area of 484,246ha, where is the habitat of many animals such as deer, muntjac, gibbon, monkey, wild pig, reptile and bird... Especially, Ben En National Park (Nhu Thanh District) to the southwest, natural reserves of Pu Hu, Pu Luong (Quan Hoa and Muong Lat districts) and Xuan Lien (Thuong Xuan District) to the northwest of the province are the places storing and protecting valuable fauna and flora genetic sources and also attractive tourist sites. Besides, Thanh Hoa also has many beautiful caves and grottoes such as Tu Thuc Cave (Nga Son District), Ham Rong Grotto (Thanh Hoa City), Ho Cong and Tien Son grottos (Vinh Loc District), cave complex in Quan Son District...

With magnanimous history and specific cultural tradition, Thanh Hoa is home to many national heroes, cultural celebrities such as: Lady Trieu, Le Hoan, Le Loi, Khuong Cong Phu, Le Van Huu, Dao Duy Tu... Thanh Hoa currently preserves 1,535 relic sites, including 134 national and 412 provincial ones, typically Le Hoan Temple, Lam Kinh Historical Site (Tho Xuan District); Lady Trieu Temple (Hau Loc District); Ham Rong Historical Site (Thanh Hoa City); Trieu Tuong Tomb and Shrine (Ha Trung District); Trinh Palace (Vinh Loc District)... Especially, Citadel of the Ho Dynasty (Vinh Loc District) was recognized as World Cultural Heritage Site by UNESCO. Along with that, hundreds of festivals, folk songs, dances such as Ma River ho, Dong Anh lamp dance; local specialities such as fermented pork roll, che lam... also contribute to forming specific brand of Thanh Hoa tourism.

Not only containing great advantages of natural condition, culture and history, Thanh Hoa is also located at the gateway linking the North and the Central, has convenient transportation system with trans-Viet Nam railway, Ho Chi Minh Road, National Highways 1, 10, 45, 47, 217, Sao Vang Airport, Nghi Son Deep Water Port and river system. In addition, tourism infrastructure of the province is also relatively complete with more than 670 accommodations creating favourable conditions for tourism development.

Ben En National Park

In the framework of National Tourism Year 2015 - Thanh Hoa with the theme “Connecting World Heritage in Viet Nam”, Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in collaboration with Thanh Hoa Province will organize many diversified activities, including: world heritage festival; performance of intangible cultural heritage forms recognized by UNESCO; journey to connect World Heritage, 50th anniversary of Ham Rong Victory (1965 – 2015); festival of ho singing connecting rivers; cuisine festival; international stone sculpture camp; Japanese cultural days in Thanh Hoa; festivals of Lam Kinh, Le Hoan, Mai An Tiem; announcement of new tourist route “Plying Ma River”; international and national sports events. This is an opportunity for Thanh Hoa to introduce and promote special scenic spots, tangible and intangible cultural values to domestic and foreign tourists; expand cooperation relationships, upgrade the image of Vietnamese country and people and also Thanh Hoa Province; at the same time foster tourism development linkage among Thanh Hoa and localities at home and aboard, especially the provinces and cities which own world heritage for regional and interregional tourism development.
