Update: May 29, 2015
The Asia-Pacific Bonsai Festival 2015 will be held in Ho Chi Minh City in early June, featuring 614 artworks from 17 countries and territories, according to organizers.

The Viet Nam Ornamental Creatures Association told reporters Tuesday that the first Asia-Pacific Bonsai Festival in Viet Nam will take place at a Japanese cultural park in Xuan Thoi Dong Commune in HCMC’s Hoc Mon District from June 5-8.

According to the association, visitors to the event will have a chance to admire bonsai making techniques by local and foreign artisans and join exchanges and discussions with bonsai experts from abroad.

This year, host Viet Nam will showcase local stone artworks, calligraphies and pieces made from wood and many kinds of bonsai at the 5th event of the Asia-Pacific Bonsai Friendship Federation (ABFF).

The Asia-Pacific Bonsai Festival is held biennially for ABFF members consisting of Indonesia, Malaysia, South Korea, Thailand, Taiwan, Viet Nam, Singapore and the Philippines. Besides, the festival will attract artisans from France, India, Italy, the U.S. and the Czech Republic.

HCMC hosts two festivals on ornamental plants and creatures every year, including the Spring Flower Festival at Tao Dan Park in HCMC’s District 1 on the occasion of the Lunar New Year holiday (Tet).

Local artisans said it would be a great chance to participate in the festivals to promote their artworks and increase sales.
