Da Nang to adorn sea dyke with tourist-friendly art

The central city of Da Nang plans to decorate a 1.5km concrete sea dyke wall with paintings and ceramic mosaics from 2016-17, creating an art space and tourist attraction.

Vice Director of the city’s Culture and Sports Department Nguyen Huu Chien, said the project, which will run along My Khe beach, will be built with total VND11.4 billion (US$506,000) from donors.

Chien said sculptors, architects and art students from Da Nang will be the main creators of the art project which will feature scenes of the ocean, fishing villages, landscape, people, history and lifestyle of Da Nang and the central region.

The project decorating the most pristine beach of the city will be the first art space of its kind in Da Nang.

The project will run between the junctions of Vo Van Kiet street and Vo Nguyen Giap. It will end at the junction with Nguyen Van Thoai street – the most crowd beach section in Da Nang.
