World windsurfing competition expected in Vietnam next year

The Professional Windsurfers Association (PWA) plans to hold its competition in the southern province of Binh Thuan next year, said PWA President Jimmy Diaz.

Diaz made the statement at the end of the 11th Fun Cup Windsurfing Competition which concluded successfully in the province on January 30.

According to him, Binh Thuan can host the world event thanks to its ideal climate among other conditions and the fast development of the sport in Vietnam.

The 11th Fun Cup Windsurfing Competition drew the participation of 45 windsurfers from 13 countries including Vietnam, France, the United Kingdom, Singapore, Russia and Germany.

Besides amateurs, this is the first time professional windsurfers including the world leading ones participated in the competition.

Pascal Lefebvre, manager of the Jibe’s Beach Club which organises the annual competition, said that the event aimed to create a playing field for tourists.
