Vietnam Airlines increases flights during the 60th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu victory

As many as 100 additional flights are operated from April 29 to May 9 to help transport the public during the 60th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu victory (May 7), said the Viet Nam national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines. 

In the peak period, May 5-9, around six flights to Dien Bien city per day will be operated instead of two flights as normal. All five ATR 72 aircrafts from the Hanoi hub will fly eight or nine fights each day.

The airlines also securely operates four special aircrafts that carry leaders of the Party and State to and from Dien Bien Phu airport.

Additionally, between April 1 and December 31, all veterans purchasing tickets for domestic routes operating by Vietnam Airlines will be eligible to receive a 15% discount; and veterans (if born before 1938) that directly participated in the Dien Bien Phu campaign will only pay just VND60,000 for a one-way ticket on the Hanoi-Dien Bien Phu route.

These special prices (not including taxes, surcharges and certain conditions) will be applicable for flights departing from April 5 to December 31, 2014.

Passengers are advised to present their veteran cards, veteran certifications from the Dien Bien Phu campaign and identification cards.
