HCM City-Nagoya air route re-opens
Update: Aug 13, 2010
The national flag carrier, Vietnam Airlines will officially re-open a direct air route from Ho Chi Minh City to Japan’s Nagoya city on August 13.

The service started in July, 2005 and temporary stopped in December 2007 due to human resource limitation in the context that Japan had to suffer from the negative impacts of the global economic recession.

This is the fourth direct air route from HCM City to Japan and the eighth between the two countries developed by Vietnam Airlines.

To date, Vietnam Airlines have developed 45 direct flights to Japan ’s four largest cities, becoming the airlines holding the largest market share in the aviation transport between Vietnam and Japan.

According to Trinh Hong Quang, deputy General Director of Vietnam Airlines, the re-start of the service will help the airlines improve its service to its key market of Japan to diversify its product, increase competitive edge and follow its strategy to make Vietnam a passenger entrepot in Asia in the future.

He also hoped that the route will serve as a bridge to boost trade, investment and tourism cooperation between the two countries.
