Victoria’s hotel and resort join annual boat race and kite competition

The Victoria Chau Doc Hotel, a member of Victoria Hotels & Resorts, will run its sixth annual Dragon Boat Races on the Bassac River in Chau Doc Town, An Giang Province on June 3.

Trinh Quang Man, General Manager of Victoria Chau Doc, said this year the hotel will collaborate with the Chau Doc Sports Center to organize the Dragon Boat Races which are held annually in celebration of the Lady Xu Festival. The festival is held annually at the Lady Xu Temple from the 23rd to the 27th day of the 4th lunar month.

Around 20 teams from neighboring Phu Tan, Chau Phu, An Phu and Tan Chau districts and Chau Doc Town of An Giang Province and from Dong Thap Province and Can Tho City will compete in three categories: 500-, 700- and 1000-meter races in teams of 10 male athletes and teams of 20 male athletes, and teams of ten female athletes.

Another sister of Victoria Chau Doc, the Victoria Hoi An Beach Resort & Spa, located on the outskirts of the UNESCO World Heritage-listed ancient port in Central Vietnam, is sponsoring its sixth annual Kite Competition on June 12.

The event is staged in cooperation with the Sports & Culture Department of Hoi An City to promote The Great Festival Day of 1,000 Years of Thang Long-Hanoi and advertise the culture, tourist, sports and trade activities of Quang Nam Province. As many 170 participants from Hoi An, Danang, Hue and other provinces are expected to participate in the colorful competition.

Participants receive travel expenses of VND200,000 for Quang Nam and Danang competitors, VND500,000 for those from HCMC and Hanoi and VND300,000 for the others.
