More than 200 athletes across the country are taking part in the National Traditional Boat Races that opened on the Thach Han River in Quang Tri on July 8.
Participants from An Giang, Binh Thuan, Danang, Hai Duong, Kien Giang, Quang Binh and Quang Tri will be competing in 1,000 metre, 500 metre and 200 metre races.
The event, which lasts until July 10, is one of the activities to mark the 65th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day (July 27) and the 40th anniversary of the 81 day battle to protect the ancient Quang Tri citadel It aims to educate the younger generations about the national revolutionary tradition.
