The 38th meeting of the ASEAN National Tourism Organizations

(TITC) - On 4th July, 2013, the 38th ASEAN NTOs meeting took place in Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar. The meeting had the attendance of delegates from ASEAN National Tourism Organizations, ASEAN Secretariat, ASEAN-China Centre, ASEAN-Japan Centre and ASEAN-Korea Centre...

 

 

 The Viet Nam delegation was lead by Ms. Hoang Thi Diep, Deputy Director General of Viet Nam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT).

 

Opening the meeting, Mr. U Htay Aung, Myanmar's Union Minister of Hotels and Tourism said tourism is under the pillar of ASEAN Economic Community. In 2015, ASEAN will be transformed into a region with free movement of skilled labors and free flow of capital, goods and services and investments.

 

The important role of the 38th meeting of ASEAN NTOs is to finalize the outcomes of ASEAN Tourism Working Group Meetings which will be submitted to the ASEAN Tourism Ministers' Meeting for approval.

 

One of main contents of the meetings of ASEAN NTOs is consideration of the reports of the ASEAN Tourism Working Groups and Committees such as: ASEAN Tourism Marketing and Communication Working Group (MCWG), ASEAN Tourism Product Development Working Group (PDWG), ASEAN Quality Tourism Working Group Meeting, ASEAN Tourism Professional Monitoring Committee, ASEAN Tourism Integration and Budget Committee (TIBC).

 

As chairman of MCWG, Viet Nam presented the report at the 5th meeting of the working group and recommended some solutions to promote ASEAN tourism.

 

In the framework of the event, there were some noticeable activities such as: meetings of ASEAN NTOs+3 (China, Japan, and Korea), ASEAN Tourism Professional Monitoring Committee (ATPMC-8)... aiming to develop ASEAN tourism industry in-depth, enhance mutual understanding and friendship between ASEAN countries to achieve the vision of ASEAN as a single destination.
