Ha Noi Old Quarter Cultural Exchange Centre opens
Update: Feb 03, 2015
The Vietnamese capital inaugurated a centre dedicated to promoting the time-honoured culture of its Old Quarter on February 2 as part of activities to celebrate the 85th founding anniversary of the Communist Party of Viet Nam (CPV).

The Ha Noi Old Quarter Culture Exchange Centre, located at 50 Dao Duy Tu Street, Hoan Kiem District, was opened on February 2 through collaboration between the municipal government and France’s Toulouse City seeking to preserve the Old Quarter.

Covering an area of 458 square metres, the three-floor centre will be a venue for exhibitions, workshops, cultural and art activities, as well as introducing the history, heritage value, and traditional craft villages of the Old Quarter to the public.

The same day, a photo exhibition titled “Ha Noi, then and now” opened with 60 pieces featuring the Ha Noi Old Quarter and its daily life from 1890 to 1940.

The event will last through February 15.

An exhibition on the history of the Old Quarter in Vietnamese, English and French is slated for early May.
