Da Nang launches Quan The Am festival
Update: Apr 07, 2015
An annual Quan The Am (Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva) festival was opened at Ngu Hanh Son (the Marble Mountains), a popular tourist destination in central Da Nang City, on the night of April 5.

The three-day festival, one of Viet Nam’s fifteen major ritual events, aims to pray for a year of national peace, prosperity and happiness.

A prayer ceremony, a zen-tea exhibition, a candle-lit flower release, boat races, traditional folk games and martial art performances will be featured at this fest.

This year, Quan The Am pagoda, the host of the event, invited a Thai troupe to take part in the festival showcasing their art performances.

Quan The Am festival not only helps preserve and uphold national cultural values, but also promotes the beauty of local custom and landscapes.
