Viet Nam promotes tourism in India

(TITC) - To strengthen tourism cooperation between Viet Nam and India, from 23-28 April 2015, Viet Nam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) collaborated with Vietnamese Embassy in India to participate in Global Exhibition on Services (GES) in New Delhi and organize roadshows in Hyderabad and Chennai cities to introduce Viet Nam’s tourism.

The delegation, led by Deputy Director General of VNAT Ha Van Sieu, included representatives of functional departments of VNAT; Departments of Tourism; Departments of Culture, Sports and Tourism; and tourism enterprises in Ha Noi, Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh cities.

With the theme “Viet Nam – Land of Cultural Heritage”, Viet Nam Tourism booth was officially opened on April 23 and attracted the attention of numerous visitors and partners. This was the largest tourism booth ever of Viet Nam in India with an area of 100m2.

In the framework of GES 2015, from 24-25 April, Viet Nam tourism delegation took part in Tourism Conference and Workshop of cooperation India – ASEAN.

On April 27-28, the delegation will organize roadshows to introduce Viet Nam’s tourism in Hyderabad and Chennai cities with the theme "Viet Nam - Destination of the 21st century". This is a good opportunity for Viet Nam’s localities to introduce tourism potentials, and for tourism businesses, hotels, airlines of the two countries to exchange experiences and strengthen cooperation.

India is one of the potential tourist markets of Viet Nam’s tourism. In the past five years, the number of Indian tourists to Viet Nam increased by 344%, from 16,000 arrivals in 2010 to nearly 55,000 arrivals in 2014. Moreover, the relationship between Viet Nam and India has been getting warmer, creating favourable conditions for cooperation in tourism development.

The GES 2015 is organized by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry of India in collaboration with Services Export Promotion Council (SEPC) and Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) at Pragati Maidan Exhibition Centre, New Delhi from 23-25 April, attracting the participation of more than 60 countries in the world.
