(TITC) - In the second meeting of Steering Committee and Organizing Committee of Visit Viet Nam Year 2016 on 25 September 2015 in Phu Quoc District (Kien Giang Province), the activities in the program of Visit Viet Nam Year 2016 was approved.
Accordingly, Visit Viet Nam Year 2016 – Phu Quoc – Mekong River Delta themed “Discovering the Southern land” will take place in Kien Giang Province and provinces/city in Mekong River Delta with more than 50 activities. Of which, Kien Giang Province will host 11 activities, including: the announcement ceremony of Visit Viet Nam Year 2016; the opening and closing ceremonies; the death anniversary of Hero of People’s Armed Forces Phan Thi Rang; culture – tourism festival and the 280th anniversary of Chieu Anh Cac Literary Coterie; the death anniversary of King Hung (Tan Hiep District); the death anniversary of 4 martyr monks (Chau Thanh District); the death anniversary of National Hero Nguyen Trung Truc; the 10th culture, sports and tourism day of Khmer ethnic people in Kien Giang; Nghinh Ong Festival (Kien Hai District); trade fair of key economic region of Mekong River Delta. Besides, 40 activities to respond Visit Viet Nam Year 2016 will also take place in Ha Noi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang City, Thua Thien – Hue Province and provinces/city in Mekong River Delta.
Speaking at the meeting, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Mr. Hoang Tuan Anh affirmed Visit Viet Nam Year 2016 is the event with national scale, contributes to raising awareness of all levels, industries and people on tourism development associated with natural resource protection; as well as developing sea-islands tourism into specific tourism product. This is also the opportunity to introduce and promote tourism potentials, strengths and specific products of Kien Giang Province and localities in the region, thereby attracting more tourists, creating breakthroughs in tourism development, affirming the role of tourism in socio -economic development.
Minister Hoang Tuan Anh emphasized Visit Viet Nam Year 2016 needs to achieve 5 main objectives, namely: increasing the number of tourists; promoting effectively Phu Quoc Island and the beauty of Viet Nam’s sea and islands; expressing friendliness and hospitality of Vietnamese people; linking provinces/cites in the region and nationwide through tourism development activities; boosting investment in Phu Quoc Island and provinces/city in Mekong River Delta.
To prepare for Visit Viet Nam Year 2016, on the basis of classic tourism products (eco-tourism associated with sea-islands resources; tourism associated with cultural-historical relics and landscapes; tourism associated with festivals, beliefs; craft village tourism), Kien Giang tourism has designed actively many attractive tours and routes to new tourist sites and areas such as: U Minh Thuong National Park, Police Zone 9, Base of Provincial Committee, Hon Dat…; developed the international tours as cruise tourism, tour “Three Countries – One Destination” among Viet Nam – Cambodia – Thai Lan; Ha Tien (Viet Nam) – Kep (Cambodia) tour by land, etc.
Besides, Kien Giang Province also upgraded, repaired and refurbished some important places as Tran Quang Khai Boulevard and Square, Provincial Cultural Centre, park along Ton Duc Thang Street. The accommodation system is also being completed to ensure supply of 375 accommodation establishments with about 8,575 rooms to serve tourists in Visit Viet Nam Year 2016.
In the next time, Kien Giang Province will focus on some key tasks such as: inviting Tourism Ministers of Laos, Cambodia, the Republic of Korea, Japan, Russia, Thailand; ambassadors and representatives of diplomatic corps in Ha Noi; international traditional art troupes to attend the opening ceremony and some appropriate activities; working with embassies, international organizations in Viet Nam; building website on Visit Viet Nam Year 2016; building the plan on developing unique tourism products of Mekong River Delta (interior, inter products and special products for Visit Viet Nam Year); strengthening inspection and management of key tourist areas such as Phu Quoc, Ha Tien, Rach Gia and U Minh Thuong...
