Over 30 artisans participate in Viet Nam-ASEAN Silk Festival

The Viet Nam-ASEAN Silk Festival was opened on December 28 at the Hoi An Silk Village in the central province of Quang Nam, bringing together over 30 artisans from well-known silk village across the country.

The festival displayed over 500 outstanding silk products of Vietnamese silk villages and other silk products from ASEAN countries, including Thailand, Malaysia, Cambodia, Laos, Indonesia and Philippines.

During the artisans, from silk villages such as Van Phuc, Phung Xa, Ma Chau, Tan Chau, Cham My Nghiep, performed steps in producing a silk product such as raising silkworms; silk weaving and making silk products.

Many other activities, including displaying Ly Dynasty’s silk products, fashion shows and traditional music programme, as well as exchanging programme between silk artisans, producers of Viet Nam and Japan, were also organised at the event.

Co-organised by the Quang Nam Silk Company Limited and the Japan Silk Association, the festival offered artisans an opportunity to exchange experiences on producing silk of Viet Nam and Southeast Asia countries and seek co-operation opportunities in developing Viet Nam high quality silk products.
